You are not Tuan. They are not Pendatang. We are all equal.

When we talk about unity one of the first things that come to our minds is respecting people of different races. But, what is race? Well, race is a myth. We have ethnicities, yes, but race is an artificial construct based almost solely on the amount of melanin in a person’s skin and the size and layout of facial bones and musculature.

I personally believe that there are no such things as Malay race, Chinese race, Indian race, black race, white race et cetera.

According to Article 160 (2) of the Federal Constitution, I am a Malay because I profess the religion of Islam, speak in Malay language and conforms to Malay custom but you know what, I never considered myself a malay. I hate label.

We all should respect each other. No one is superior and no one is inferior. Please stop hurting each other with hurtful words. You can discuss or criticise in a healthy manner the many doctrines of your friend’s religion, the taste of their ethnic traditional food and many others but please don’t make a remark that would cause disharmony among Malaysians.

To some Bumiputra out there please stop believing that you are Tuan and they are Pendatang. We are all equal. Those so-called pendatangs that you hate so much love this country as much as you. This land is their tanah tumpah darahku.

And finally, I hope Malaysian politicians would stop using race card to gain political mileage. Believe me, scare tactics are no longer effective these days. Divide and rule is only for losers and dictators.

Let us work together to make Malaysia a better country.
